Follow.Me kicked off in Naples


The project has officially been launched at a two-day kickoff event in Naples, Italy. The objective of a common understanding of the project and all partners has been achieved. Members of all consortium partners were present and were able to add valuable input towards the overall mandate, structure, and expectations of the project. All questions and uncertainties have been addressed and decisions, findings, and next steps well documented. Initial decisions concerning pertinent project planning and administrative issues were made and a roadmap for the early project phase was laid out in the form of deliverable outlines and a detailed project plan. Over the course of the first few conference calls, the next steps have been further concretized, outstanding questions have been answered and the project is now well underway.

SYNYO designs its first smartwatch app

SYNYO is responsible for the overall design and development of the web application, the mobile and smartphone apps. Partners CINI and Mobimesh will support the design by providing solutions for the real-time communications needs of the platform. Epsilon and SIVECO will support the design based on the end user requirements. This means that SYNYO can extend their mobile application expertise to hypermobile and wearable devices. The application will be developed for smartwatches available on the market for the localization of the elderly and people with mental disorders outdoor and indoor.

Designing the business model right from the start

As the project results shall be taken to the market after the project end it is imperative to consider revenue streams and the overall business model right from the beginning. SYNYO supports the project consortium with its market expertise through developing a first draft of the business model canvas. The canvas will be tested and optimised throughout the project. The initial stakeholder interviews will provide a strong foundation for the next iteration of the canvas. Further to that, SYNYO will contribute to the hardware and software framework design and user requirements engineering.

Interviews with end-user already underway

Follow.Me aims to satisfy people‘s desire – mainly family members and doctors – of monitoring the position of elderly people with different forms of dementia and Alzheimer, in order to prevent danger situations. The project consortium is well aware that there is nothing more frightening than losing a loved one. Thus, current smart tracking devices can help quickly locate missing people. Therefore, Follow.Me profoundly involves end-users in the requirements analysis. Through extensive interviews with different target-groups (patients, doctors, nurses, relatives etc.) accessibility and acceptance of the developed solutions will be guaranteed. To this end, end users are involved right from the beginning and throughout all the project activities.
