CVDLINK

In a significant leap towards revolutionizing cardiovascular healthcare, the CVDLINK project has been launched, marking the beginning of an ambitious endeavour to enhance patient outcomes through data-driven solutions. With a focus on leveraging AI-enabled tools, CVDLINK aims to address the challenges faced in managing cardiovascular diseases across Europe. This ground-breaking project will empower healthcare professionals with innovative approaches, paving the way for personalized interventions and improved management of cardiovascular conditions.

The CVDLINK project, “A federated paradigm of real-world data sources utilization for the empowerment of diagnosis, prognosis and risk assessment of cardiovascular conditions”, is funded by the European Commission under the Horizon Europe programme through the call “Better integration and use of health-related real-world and research data, including genomics, for improved clinical outcomes”. Throughout the duration of 48-month, starting on the 1^st of January, 2024, the project aims to address the pressing challenges faced in managing cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) through innovative data-driven interventions. CVDLINK introduces a privacy-by-design, pan-European platform-as-a-service (PaaS) aiming to significantly improve cardiovascular disease (CVD) research and care. The core value propositions of this project include seamless integration and secure sharing of existing data sources to enhance accessibility while complying with ethical standards, alongside AI-driven precision medicine tools for improved diagnosis and personalized interventions. These dual pillars empower healthcare professionals, enabling proactive measures and advancements in CVD treatment across Europe. Particularly, the primary objectives of CVDLINK include:

• Analysing gaps and pathways in the management of cardiovascular diseases and current data landscape challenges;
• Integrating real-world data sources in a FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable), open, and federated repository;
• Implementing data and AI-driven federated tools to enhance the management of cardiovascular conditions;
• Performing validation studies and proof-of-concept demonstrations to assess the effectiveness and acceptance of CVDLINK’s offerings;
• Paving the way for the sustainable and wide adoption of data and AI-driven federated strategies in cardiovascular and other chronic conditions;
• Actively engaging stakeholders and steering CVDLINK results towards future scalability and impact.

To achieve its goals, CVDLINK has brought together a diverse consortium of 19 partners comprising academic institutions, research organizations, healthcare providers, and technology firms across Europe. Together, the consortium will contribute to the success of CVDLINK with a total of 1139 person-months.

SYNYO plays a significant role in the CVDLINK project, leading key activities that drive its success. As a leader in cost-effectiveness analysis, financing and reimbursement models, economic viability assessment, and exploitation plan, SYNYO drives efforts to ensure financial sustainability and effective management of project outcomes. Additionally, SYNYO contributes with expertise in data management, intellectual property rights, risk management, and ethical considerations, ensuring compliance and smooth project operation. Furthermore, SYNYO contributes to activities such as developing the project’s visual identity, raising awareness, and disseminating project outcomes to diverse stakeholders. Through its multifaceted involvement, SYNYO plays a pivotal role in advancing the CVDLINK initiative, fostering impactful outcomes, and sustainable solutions in cardiovascular healthcare.
