AWID: KIRAS-Project on Prevention of Ideologies of Degradation

The AWID (https://www.synyo.com/projects/awid/) project – launched in April 2018 and funded by the Austrian security research program KIRAS of the Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology (bmvit) – and particularly the consolidation of the final results of the background analysis, the overview, the categorisation and the assessment of national and international exemplary practices associated with preventive education and young people on forms of degradation are well underway. Thus far, AWID’s research activities have been geared towards examining social media-based approaches.

The participatory, multi-media and resilience-focussed Tool Concept for Prevention of Ideologies of Degradation (IOD) involves a socio-cultural assessment of risk and resilience factors. To this end, the consortium of this research and development project follows the common objective of supporting a relevant selection of innovative and concise measures designed to prevent and deradicalise various form of pejorative attitudes amongst youngsters.
